Transport for London (TfL) is consulting on proposed changes to bus routes in Fulham and the wider area of West London ahead of the launch of the Elizabeth Line.
Currently, the 391 bus route runs between Richmond and Sand’s End, Fulham, serving Kew, Gunnersbury, Chiswick, Hammersmith Bus Station, Olympia, and Fulham Broadway along the way. TfL claims that the route currently suffers from poor reliability due to the large number of congested areas it serves. TfL is proposing to restructure the 391 route, with the result that it would no longer connect with Fulham.
Instead, TfL is proposing a new 306 bus route, which would run between Acton Vale and Sand’s End, running every 12 minutes during Monday to Saturday daytime and every 15 minutes during Sunday and all evenings, using double-deck vehicles. This would follow the existing alignment of route 266 between Acton Vale and Hammersmith Bus Station via Askew Road. It would then follow the existing alignment of route 391 between Hammersmith town centre and Sand’s End, Fulham.
Commenting on TfL’s proposals, local Member of Parliament for Chelsea & Fulham, Greg Hands, said: “I travel by bus almost every day, and I know how essential bus services are for local residents, be they young or old, working or retired.
“I am working in conjunction with your three Conservative Sands End councillors on this issue – as I did during previous bus consultations, including when we successfully campaigned to save the 424 bus route. The crux of the TfL proposal is to serve Acton from Fulham on the new 306 route, instead of Richmond on the existing 391 route.
"I urge readers to get your views heard as part of TfL’s consultation, and I will make my submission in due course.”
The consultation is open until Sunday 17 September 2017. You can fill in the online survey, email consultations@tfl.gov.uk or write to FREEPOST TFL CONSULTATIONS.
