Have your say on the proposed Chelsea Embankment Bus Lanes
TFL has proposed to install a dedicated bus lane westbound and eastbound on Chelsea Embankment to serve the 170 bus. This will narrow the embankment and further squeeze the crucial pinch points of Albert and Battersea Bridge. These lanes will effectively reduce much of the Chelsea Embankment to only one lane in each direction for vehicles. Causing traffic chaos as vehicles seek alternative routes, down side-streets or tailing back across Chelsea.
I have always been very supportive of our local bus routes. I led a strongly supported campaign, which resulted in saving the 14, 74, C3, N74 bus routes from the Mayor of London and TfL’s outrageous cuts. However, these new bus lanes are unnecessary, as the single-decker 170 bus is the only route on that stretch of road, and due to TFL’s cuts last year, it now runs even less frequently! The likely traffic impacts will greatly affect residential side-streets and put more pressure on the Kings Road.
That is why I am asking for your views – so I can put the strongest voice forward to TFL and Mayor Khan
