Update 5 September 2023 - Result!
Greg would like to thank all residents who supported his petition, urging the Labour-run London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham (LBHF) to reinstate funding for the 11 to 19 year-olds provision at the Brunswick Club in Fulham.
On 4 September 2023, the Cabinet of LBHF officially agreed to re-instate the funding for this popular youth club in Fulham!
As residents will recall, earlier this year, LBHF cut the club’s funding suddenly. Together with local Conservative Councillors Greg campaigned to have this vital funding re-instated. 2837 residents signed Greg’s petition and the Council have listened to this local protest.
It is great news for our community that the youth club can continue to offer its provision for local young people.
This is a great result of local action!

Update 3 April 2023 – Victory on Brunswick Club Funding
Greg would like to thank everyone who added their signature to his petition to re-instate the council funding for The Brunswick Club’s teenage provision.
In only one week, several hundreds of residents signed his petition and this has been noticed at the Labour-run Hammersmith & Fulham Council!
On 1 April, the council have u-turned and a ‘new’ funding package for local youth clubs was suddenly announced – this is a fantastic success story of people power.
Despite this announcement, there are still questions which need answering and Greg will continue to put pressure on the council on these:
- How long is the funding for?
- Why is funding being replaced with a bidding pot?
- What will the amount of the funding be?
Until the Council provides answers to these key questions, Greg’s petition goes on, and he is urging constituents to keep circulating it to friends, family and neighbours keep up the pressure on the council.
A huge ‘Thank you’ goes to Fulham Councillor Jose Afonso and the other Opposition Conservative Councillors of the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham for their sterling work on this local issue.

The Brunswick Club for Young People is located in Haldane Road just off the Clem Attlee Estate in Fulham.
Shockingly, Hammersmith & Fulham Council are ending the club’s funding. It will no longer receive any financial support from the council for their youth provision for 11 to 19 year-olds. This would affect 100 -150 young people who attend the senior youth club sessions each week.
The club was founded in 1949 with donations by British ex-Prisoners of World War II held in Brunswick, Germany. The strong traditions and values of the Club have seen it continue to thrive to the present day. Families across generations have been members. This continuity underpins the Club ethos “Brunswick 4 Life, Friends Forever”.
The Club has a membership of over 1,000 young people and is the most populated youth club in the borough. It is a key part of our Fulham community and Greg has served as Trustee of the club for over 20 years.
Local teenagers need The Brunswick Club. Help Greg protect its funding, by signing his petition!
